5/22 Weekly Email
Hi all,
Memorial Day: As a reminder, this coming Monday, May 26th, is Memorial Day, a City Holiday. Please do not come to work if you’re not scheduled. Thank you as always for the Solid Waste, Water, PD, and all other City employees who work this holiday and keep Tempe functioning.
Segal Followup: I met with Rebecca Strisko (HR’s Director) this week to discuss some initial feedback we received from our Segal survey. I will be sending out an email later today or tomorrow with some detailed answers to some nuanced questions we had. Segal will also be producing a final report that explains some of their decisions in greater detail - that may be available on the Bridge as early as next week.
MOU Followup: Thank you everyone who voted in our MOU Ratification. I am happy to announce that we had a 100% approval rate and that the final document should be signed by the City Council on June 5th, to take effect July 1st. I appreciate everyone’s confidence in our Negotiation Team and the final outcome. If you have ideas for our next negotiation, please fill out this survey.
Elections: As a reminder, we will be hosting 2 meet-and-greet events for our Vice President candidates on May 29th (next Thursday). There will be a morning event at 5:30AM at the Tempe Priest Yard’s Assembly Hall and a midday event at 12PM at the Tempe Library’s Second floor Cottonwood Room. You can view event details on our website’s events page. RSVPs will not be required and we will have light refreshments for attendees. If you can’t make the events, feel free to email president@uaeatempe.com with questions you would like to ask.
Employee of the Quarter: Nominations for the next round of our Employee of the Quarter program will close on June 1st. Please take 5 minutes and nominate yourself or a peer before the deadline. The Q1 and Q2 winners have been invited to the June 5th City Council meeting where I will make the announcement and introduce them. We plan to do the same with future winners every quarter moving forward.
Meeting Minutes: I’ve attached a copy of the meeting minutes from last Thursday’s member meeting. You can also view them online, at this link. For new members who may not be aware, you can also view all my past weekly emails at this link. This page is not publicly visible to non-members, so bookmark it or refer back to this email if you want to view it at a later date.
This has been a busy week and I apologize if you’re waiting to hear back from me on something. I have a long list of people to follow up with and will do my best to get through it in the next two days. If you need immediate assistance with a disciplinary case, please make sure you reach out to Natalya Ennels, our Resolutions Director, at resolutions@uaeatempe.com.
All best,
