10/2 Weekly Email
Hi all,
I just have a few updates this week.
Ice Cream Social Wrapups: We’re doing a few smaller events but we’ve wrapped up our main run of ice cream socials. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us - if you missed us there is a small chance there is still a freezer bag with some leftover treats in your break room fridge.
UAEA would like to continue connecting with different workgroups throughout the next few months. If you or your team is interested in seeing us for a cocoa event series this winter, please let me or a UAEA board member know.
Retirement Expo: Tempe is hosting its annual retirement expo on Thursday, October 23rd at the Tempe library (10am-2pm). I would encourage all employees to try and attend, regardless of how close you are to retirement - there are many steps you can take now to set yourself up for success down the road.
CPR Training: The City is providing free CPR/AED/FA/Stop The Bleed training on October 15th and November 4th (8am-4pm). This is an incredibly comprehensive hands-on first aid course that may be useful in either your professional or personal life. As of Monday they still had 7 seats open in each class - if you’re interested in attending, reach out to Manuel Padilla.
Cybersecurity Training: October is Cybersecurity Month and IT is putting on a lunch training session on October 23rd to help further boost employees'ability to prevent hacking attempts. Lunch is included. See the attached email for more information or contact Megan Hutchison to sign up.
October Member Meeting: Our next member meeting will be at 5:30am on Thursday, October 23rd, at the TMOC Building 1 Conference Room (ground floor of TMOC Building 1). Click here to rsvp.
Member Meeting Survey: I sent out a survey a few weeks ago looking for input on our member meetings - the board really wants to know if there are additional ways we can make our meetings more accessible. We received only a few responses so far and those overwhelmingly indicate that Thursdays between 11am and 1pm are the best times to schedule meetings and that sandwiches, pizza, and mexican food are the preferred form of catering. The board is willing to accept these results but wanted to confirm that they are indeed reflective of member’s opinions - if you think differently, please make sure you fill this out.
Thanks for a great week everyone!
